8th March 2016
This year’s Senior School show is a production of Arthur Miller’s modern classic, A View from the Bridge. Miller is rightly considered to be one of the greatest 20th century playwrights in the English Language and this play is one of his most popular and enduring along with Death of a Salesman and The Crucible. Set in a close-knit Italian immigrant community in 1950s Brooklyn, New York, the play follows the life of longshoreman Eddie Carbone as his obsession with his orphaned niece spirals out of control. Sexual repression, suspicion and homophobia drive Eddie to an act of betrayal that has tragic consequences for himself, his family and the whole community. The play will be performed at Teatro Cassia (Via Santa Giovanna Elisabetta 69 00189) at 18.30 on Friday March 11th.
