The New School Rome's 'orto' or vegetable patch is up and running for the second year in a row. The school follows the 'Edible School Yard' initiative founded by renowned food campaigner Alice Waters. The project instructs students in issues like sustainability and 'local' food. Students manage the orto and sell the produce at the forthcoming Summer Fair which takes place on June 11th. The school is also aiming to cook a giant courgette frittata once they are ready!
