Edible School Yard
3rd June 2015
The New School is delighted to announce that it is signing up for the legendary Alice Waters' Edible School Yard campaign. The project is hugely successful in the United States where students are encouraged to grow their own food at school in order to become more aware of issues like sustainability and the 'slow food' movement.
At The New School students in Year 7 and 8 have begun work on their mini vegetable patch. Peppers, tomatoes, herbs and salad leaves have been grown so far and the aim is to sell these products to parents. Next year the school hopes to develop the project to include an all year round vegetable patch.
