After 32 years.......

24th June 2015

At the end of this academic year, Domini Mac Rory will leave The New School. Domini first joined the school as a teacher of English Language and Literature in 1979 and apart from a break when her boys were born, she taught until 2003 when she was first elected as Chairperson of the Academic Council. At the end of 4 consecutive terms of office, a total of 12 years, Domini has decided to look for new challenges.

‘I was so fortunate to have found such a wonderful place to work in as a teacher and I am proud of what we have achieved together over the last 12 years. Not only is The New School recognized as a highly successful and much sought after international school but I am also very proud that the core beliefs underlying our philosophy of education, which appealed to me as a young teacher, are still valued by so many. I am certain that the guiding principle of care and belief in the individual, which is the hallmark of The New School, will continue to remain central to the school in the future. I thank my colleagues and the parent body for their support over many years but it is to the students that I owe a huge debt of gratitude - it has been such a joy working with you.’

Jonny Massey will take over the role of Academic Chairperson as from July 2015. Jonny joined The New School in 2007. Before becoming a teacher, Jonny had 12 successful years as a senior journalist at the BBC in London. Since joining the school Jonny has taught English Language and Literature at Middle and Senior level; he has been a Year 13 tutor and Senior Co-ordinator and he has gained the respect of colleagues, students and parents. Jonny looks forward to leading the school to continued success.

On behalf of The New School Association, Executive Council Chairperson, Carmine Mancini thanked Domini for her ‘passion and vision’ which has been central to the school’s success and wished Jonny all the very best as he steps into his new role.
